Ms. Dudley in career services tried to explain how overwhelming the White House Correspondents Association Dinner would be. However, after the event I realized nothing could have really prepared me for the adventure that awaited me, Crystal Cranmore and Christina Wright as winners of the association's scholarship.

Cool air hit my face. Cameras began flashing. People began cheering and clapping. I looked around for the celebrity that just had to be close by. There weren't any.

The crowd was cheering for me! (I guess Phillip and Crystal, too.)

Saturday night, April 26, was more than I could have ever expected.

The adage "money talks" will undoubtedly hold true as presidential hopefuls seek their party's nomination in the first primary since 1928 to have open races for both political parties.

Between eight Democratic and 10 Republican candidates nearly $420 million have been raised in the mere nine months since fundraising began.

Though the 2008 presidential election is nearly a year away, talk of whom to vote for and why is a particularly controversial and sensitive subject in the black community, especially among young adults.

Since 1971 when the legal voting age was officially lowered from 21 to 18, young adults have been urged to make their voices heard by exercising their power to be part of the political decision-making process.

Google Message Discovery Feature Allows Users to Organize Email…for a Small Fee

Given that e-mail has become a mainstay in our technology driven society, the need to store and organize the information communicated through email has become essential to email management process. Many college students have chosen Google's free Gmail system for daily email use, but found that the massive amount emails coming in daily can be overwhelming without a means to sort or organize them. Naturally, Google followed suit behind Microsoft Exchange and Lotus to create a filing system for old and new emails that need to be saved and organized.

Google recently introduced Google Message Discovery, a service that will allow users to archive old email and provide on-demand e-discovery. The new product was announced last week on the Official Google Enterprise Blog. It is being hosted through Postini, an email archiving vendor that Google acquired in July of 2007.
TThe closing of the 23 schools will indirectly affect Janney Elementary School. Like nearby schools in upper Northwest Washington, Janney is overcrowded and has a waiting list for families outside its enrollment boundary. The school, lined with portable units and classrooms filled with nearly 30 students apiece, needs more space and is searching for the right opportunity to expand. Instead of the city government taking over the project, it has proposed a Public Private Partnership. However, some parents are concerned about plans that call for Janney to sell land for housing and a public library.

Many Black Catholics and Christians alike can remember the kind and gentle spirit of the last Pope John Paul II. Black Americans recall his strong connection to Black America and the compassion that he had for all people.

Pope Benedict XVI, however, Pope John Paul II's successor, is not revered as having those same charismatic qualities. It is said that DC Catholics should not expect the "Rocky" theme song to be played by a high school band like they did for Pope John Paul II. At most they should expect the very organized and politically correct speeches during his visit.

Washington, D.C. ranks 4th in the country behind Philadelphia and two Tennessee counties Shelby and Davidson in incarcerating residents. A report by the Justice Policy Institute shows that the city has an over-reliance on incarceration, one reason for this high rate is the inability of inmates to post bail and having to stay in jail until their court date.
