STANDARDS OF ADVERTISING ACCEPTABILITY
Advertising must follow the same standards of good taste and propriety as editorial matters appearing in BlackCollegeView.com. The following types of advertising are deemed inappropriate for a Howard University advertising publication:
i.) Any advertisement stating or implying that persons of specific race, sex, sexual orientation, religion or national origin are preferred;
ii.) Advertisements for alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, patented medicines, dating services or mail order matrimonial or pornographic materials;
iii.) Advertisements which may be fraudulent or misleading, whether because of ambiguity or an incomplete statement of facts;
iv.) Advertising attacking personal character;
v.) Advertisements for any product which may be dangerous to health and safety;
vi.) Political advertisements that do not contain the name and address of the person(s) or organization(s) paying for the ad. Such ads must be clearly identified as paid political advertisements.
ADVERTISING CONDITIONS
Insertion orders accepted by BlackCollegeView.Com are subject to the foregoing terms and conditions. Terms and conditions rates and agreements not set forth herein are not binding on BlackCollegeView.com.
i.) BlackCollegeView.com reserves the right to accept or reject any advertising.
ii.) BlackCollegeView.com does not assume liability for the content (text, illustrations) of any ad published on BlackCollegeView.com, and the advertiser is responsible for any and all claims against the website as a result of false and/or libelous advertising.
iii.) Claims for errors in advertising must be made within one week of the publication date.
iv.) Payment terms are net 30. Payment is expected in advance unless a till forbid arrangement has been established. Contract discounts (10% off net) are available for less than net 30 remittances.
v.) Cancellations, changes and/or corrections must conform to published deadlines.
vi.) The deadline for insertion orders and artwork is noon, Friday, one week prior to publication.

On November 17, 2001 Howard University?s Department of Journalism launched its online news and information source ? BlackCollegeView.com. This website provides young college journalists from Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the nation a forum to report the news from their perspective. The African American collegiate voice will finally be heard in a unique way. These youthful purveyors of news and information report on Education, Health, Business, Government and Politics, Religion, Arts and Entertainment, and Sports. BlackCollegeView.com is a product of Howard University?s converged media lab ? a student ? faculty ? industry collaborative laboratory where media products are created, distributed, and promoted for local, national, and global audiences. BlackCollegeView.com serves as the anchor project for the converged lab.
ONLINE ADVERTISING
SIZE SPECIFICATIONS
A full-banner ad is a horizontal ad, about 6 1/2? wide and 7/8? tall (468 x 60 pixels), which is linked to your web site.
Readers click on your banner and are immediately taken to your company?s web site. A typical banner ad consists of your logo, a line or two of text that attracts the reader, and stationery or animated graphics.
Full size banners are available across the top and bottom of specific pages.
Sidebar banners are approximately 1? wide and 3? tall (Maximum width is 120 pixels).
All banner ads will be rotated (maximum five rotations per locations) when more than one advertiser requests the same position.
Please provide camera-ready artwork. This can be sent to the BCV advertising office on a Mac formatted 3.5 floppy disk, zip disk, or emailed as a PDF file.
AD DELIVERY
Online ads may be scheduled to run over specified time periods with an unlimited number of impressions allowed during that period. Time may be purchased in increments of weeks, months, or per semester (4 months).
ADVERTISING RATES
Cost per 1000: the number of page views or number of times an ad is shown online. Ads are ordered in units of 1000 page views.
